Backings
Choose the right backing for the garment
Attachment is the decision most often regretted — a patch that peels, snags or won't wash. Four options, chosen by fabric and use, each explained with its real limits.
| Backing | Application | Fabrics | Wash | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sew-on | Stitched — permanent | All fabrics incl. hi-viz | 60°C + industrial | Included (default) |
| Iron-on | Household iron, ~2 min | Cotton, poly-cotton, denim | 30°C inside-out | +15p / patch |
| Velcro (hook & loop) | Removable in seconds | Morale kits, tactical | Remove to wash | +45p / patch |
| Adhesive | Peel & stick | Smooth rigid surfaces | Wipe clean | +35p / patch |
Iron-On Patches
The fastest route from patch to garment. A heat-activated adhesive layer bonds under a household iron in a couple of minutes — no needle required.
Sew-On Patches
The professional standard. A plain fabric backing stitched to the garment is the most permanent, most launderable attachment there is — and the one uniform buyers should choose by default.
Velcro (Hook & Loop) Patches
Morale patches live and die by removability. Hook on the patch, loop panel on the garment — swap call-signs, blood types and joke patches in seconds, and strip the whole kit before washing.
Adhesive Peel-&-Stick Patches
For surfaces that never see a needle — equipment cases, helmets, laptops, vehicle panels. A strong pressure-sensitive adhesive with a peel-away liner.
