Sew-On Patches

The professional standard. A plain fabric backing stitched to the garment is the most permanent, most launderable attachment there is — and the one uniform buyers should choose by default.

How a patch gets made

Five stages, no mystery

Most patch problems are process problems — rushed digitising, skipped proofs, vague QC. Ours is written down, stage by stage.

The full process
  1. 01

    Artwork review — free

Send anything from a vector file to a napkin sketch. Our digitisers assess stitchability, flag fine detail that won't survive, and suggest the construction that suits your budget — within one working day.

  2. 02

    Digitising & proof

Your design is converted into stitch paths — direction, density, underlay. You receive a visual proof with matched thread colours. Production starts only after your written sign-off; two revision rounds included.

  3. 03

    Production

The run goes on the line: thread-up, hooping, first-article check off the head before the batch runs. Standard orders are delivered within 14 working days of proof approval.

  4. 04

    Quality control

Stitch density, border integrity, colour match under daylight-balanced light and dimensional tolerance checked against your signed proof — batch by batch, not sample by sample.

  5. 05

    Tracked UK delivery

Packs leave our dispatch desk tracked to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Free over the basket threshold — and your digitised file stays on our server for instant reorders.

Quality control

Checked like it's going on our own jacket

QC isn't a final glance — it's four named checks, logged per batch against your job ticket. See the full standard on the quality page.

  • Stitch density checks

Coverage measured against the signed proof — no fabric show-through, no board-stiff fills.

  • Pantone thread matching

Matched under daylight-balanced light and photographed for your records.

  • First-article approval

The first patch off the line is checked before the batch runs, not after.

  • Dimensional tolerance

±1.5mm against spec, measured cold. Borders square, shapes true.

Embroidered, 75mm, up to 6 colours, sew-on — the order we're asked for most. Quantity does the heavy lifting: setup and digitising amortise away as the run grows.

  • Honest 10-piece minimum — real production pricing, not inflated one-off rates
  • Digitising fee waived on most orders of 100+
  • Sharp savings from 250 pieces upward
  • Schedule pricing for annual uniform programmes

Why buy direct

A marketplace forwards your order. A maker answers for it.

The big patch marketplaces and AI design tools are middlemen — your artwork goes overseas, the proof is a render, and nobody who touched your job has a name. We do the whole job under one roof, and we put our contact on the ticket.

Before you ask

The questions every order starts with

Most embroidered patches land between roughly £1.50 and £8 per piece depending on size, quantity, construction and backing — a 75mm embroidered patch is typically £5.90–£7.80 at ten pieces and £1.55–£2.05 at a thousand. The pricing page explains every factor, and the quote builder shows an indicative range instantly.

Ten pieces per design — our honest minimum. Setup work (digitising, hooping, first-article check) is identical whether we run one patch or ten, so ten is the point where you pay a real production price rather than an inflated one-off. If you're planning a larger programme, ask about a pre-production sample against the bulk order.

Standard orders are delivered within 14 working days of proof approval, tracked UK delivery included. A rush lane at 5–7 working days is often available for a surcharge — check current capacity when you order.

Always. You receive a visual render of the digitised design with matched thread colours, and production starts only after your written sign-off. Two revision rounds are included.

Vector files are ideal — AI, EPS, SVG or PDF. High-resolution PNG and JPG work too; if your file isn't vector we'll redraw it as part of digitising. Send what you have: we review every file free and tell you honestly if it will stitch well.

Sew-on for permanence and industrial laundering, iron-on for quick application on cotton and poly-cotton, Velcro for morale patches and removable setups, adhesive for non-fabric surfaces. The backings comparison page walks through each with wash and fabric notes.
