FAQ

Every question we're actually asked

Twenty-two straight answers from the order desk — pricing, minimums, personalisation, turnaround, artwork, washing, samples, reorders and the awkward ones. If yours isn't here, the contact form reaches the same people.

Most embroidered patches land between roughly £1.50 and £8 per piece depending on size, quantity, construction and backing — a 75mm embroidered patch is typically £5.90–£7.80 at ten pieces and £1.55–£2.05 at a thousand. The pricing page explains every factor, and the quote builder shows an indicative range instantly.

Ten pieces per design — our honest minimum. Setup work (digitising, hooping, first-article check) is identical whether we run one patch or ten, so ten is the point where you pay a real production price rather than an inflated one-off. If you're planning a larger programme, ask about a pre-production sample against the bulk order.

Standard orders are delivered within 14 working days of proof approval, tracked UK delivery included. A rush lane at 5–7 working days is often available for a surcharge — check current capacity when you order.

Always. You receive a visual render of the digitised design with matched thread colours, and production starts only after your written sign-off. Two revision rounds are included.

Vector files are ideal — AI, EPS, SVG or PDF. High-resolution PNG and JPG work too; if your file isn't vector we'll redraw it as part of digitising. Send what you have: we review every file free and tell you honestly if it will stitch well.

Sew-on for permanence and industrial laundering, iron-on for quick application on cotton and poly-cotton, Velcro for morale patches and removable setups, adhesive for non-fabric surfaces. The backings comparison page walks through each with wash and fabric notes.

Yes. We match against our thread charts under daylight-balanced light and show the match on your proof. For PVC, compounds are matched to Pantone references at moulding.

Embroidered and woven patches on sew-on backing comfortably survive 40–60°C washes; iron-on backings prefer 30°C and inside-out washing. The care guide covers each construction and backing in detail.

Yes — tracked delivery to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, free over £75. BFPO and Channel Islands by arrangement.

Usually yes — send photos of both sides and we'll assess. Note we can't reproduce trademarked or protected insignia without evidence of entitlement, and we decline orders for protected regimental or force badges without authorisation.

Photograph the batch and email us within 14 days. Genuine production faults are replaced or refunded — your choice — and the cause is logged against the job ticket. Full terms are in the returns policy.

Steep ones — unit prices fall roughly 74% between ten and a thousand pieces because setup and digitising amortise away. Annual uniform programmes get schedule pricing; ask when you request a quote.

Our minimum is 10 pieces per design — it's the point where setup costs (digitising, hooping, first-article check) spread into a real production price instead of an inflated one-off. Planning a larger programme? Ask about a pre-production sample against the bulk order and we'll cost it honestly.

Yes — that's a name run. One digitised layout, variable text stitched piece by piece from your list. Every name is reconciled against the list at quality control. It adds about 40p per piece, and a squad list of ten different names counts as a single 10-piece run.

One name per line in the quote form's personalisation box, or a spreadsheet by email quoting your reference. We confirm every spelling back to you on the proof before anything is stitched.

A one-off digitising fee (typically around £20) applies to smaller orders and is itemised on your quote — it is waived on most orders of 100 pieces or more. Your digitised file stays on our server, so reorders never pay it twice.

We keep your artwork and digitised file on file against the job ticket. A reorder runs straight back onto the line: no setup fee, no new proof unless you change the spec — and schedule pricing applies if we've agreed an annual programme.

Yes — pre-production samples can be scheduled against a planned bulk order, with cost and lead time confirmed on your quote. For existing designs we can also point you to comparable work straight off the line.

Payment options are set out on your quote — UK card and bank transfer are standard, with invoicing available for approved business and bulk accounts. A VAT invoice is provided where applicable.

Always. You receive a visual render of the digitised design with matched thread colours, and production starts only after your written sign-off. Two revision rounds are included.

Yes. We match against our thread charts under daylight-balanced light and show the match on your proof. For PVC, compounds are matched to Pantone references at moulding.

A digitiser converts your artwork into stitch instructions — paths, direction, density and underlay — that the embroidery heads follow. Good digitising is invisible; bad digitising is a stiff, puckered patch. It's the step we refuse to cut corners on.
