Patch type
3D & Puff Embroidered Patches
Foam under the stitch, thread over the top — lettering and shapes that stand off the patch in hard relief. The signature look of streetwear caps and bold crew merchandise.

Puff rules
- Puff wants thick, bold shapes — thin strokes collapse the foam edge.
- Letters below ~8mm cap height should stay flat-embroidered; mixing both in one patch gives the best of each.
- Foam edges are cut by the stitching itself, so closed shapes with generous counters work best.
Your proof shows the puff zones and flat zones separately, so you can see exactly what rises before anything is stitched.
Common questions
Yes — the foam is closed-cell and the thread locks it in. 40°C washes on sew-on backing are fine; avoid hot tumble-drying directly on the relief.
Technically yes, but full-puff patches lose definition. The strong look is puff on the headline elements with flat embroidery for detail — we'll advise on the split at proof stage.
